ONTARIO HOSTELRY INSTITUTE
OENOLOGY & VITICULTURE SCHOLARSHIP - Brock University $3,500 (one award)
The Oenology and Viticulture scholarships were established for students in programs designed to meet the
growing needs of the grape and wine industries in Canada.
Who Can Apply
- Brock University Oenology and Viticulture students in their
second or third year can apply for the $3,500 award.
- Applicant must be Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants
- Applicants must not have received any other Ontario Hostelry
Institute Award
How to Apply
Send application form to the
Ontario Hostelry Institute, 300 Adelaide Street East, Suite 339, Toronto, ON, M5A 1N1. The application form
must be accompanied by the following (missing or incomplete documents will be grounds for
elimination):
- Application Form: must be completed and signed (pen or typewritten submissions only)
- Official Transcript of Records: your complete academic
history at your present college/university. (web grades, academic records, photocopy, emailed or faxed transcripts are NOT accepted)
- Resumé
- Letter(s) of recommendation: from a current
faculty member and/or school administrator has to be signed and must include address, telephone and where possible, email address
- Letter(s) of recommendation from past or
present employers has to be signed and must include address, telephone and where possible, email address
The Ontario Hostelry Institute reserves the right to check all references. Faxed applications and supporting documents will NOT be
accepted.
Judging Criteria
Applications are judged on academic record, work experience,
extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation. Equal weighting is given to each of the judging
criteria.
An independent panel of judges appointed by the Institute will
review the applications and determine the award recipients. In the case of Brock University, the Institute
will submit the name of the recipient selected by the judges to the Brock University Senate Committee for
Awards and Bursaries for final approval.
Payment of Award Money
A one-time payment will be made to the college in November of the
year the award is received to be credited toward the recipient's tuition fees. If the fees have been paid in
full, the award money is to be given to the recipient by the college. The Institute will seek confirmation of
graduation from said program. Recipients who did not graduate will forfeit their award payment.
Deadline
Scholarship applications must be received by the Institute no
later than Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Applications received after this date will not be eligible. Names of the
award recipients will be posted on the Institute's website www.theohi.ca/scholarships by August 2013.
