COLLEGE ENTRANCE AWARD $1,000 (four awards)
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be in their final year of high school and must enroll this September in an Ontario Community College in a diploma program (minimum two-years) in one of the following areas of study:
- Culinary
- Food and Beverage
- Hotel
- Hospitality
- Tourism
- Resort
How to Apply
Send completed application forms to the Ontario Hostelry Institute, 300 Adelaide Street East, Suite 339, Toronto, ON, M5A 1N1. The application form must be accompanied by the following (missing or incomplete documents may be grounds for elimination):
- Application form: completed and signed (pen or typewritten submission only)
- Resumé
- OFFICIAL Transcript of Records: transcript from previous academic year and report card from your current academic year (photocopy, emailed or faxed transcripts are NOT accepted)
- Letter(s) of recommendation from your school principal, guidance counselor or teacher has to be signed and must include address, telephone and where possible email address
- Letter(s) of recommendation from your past or current employer(s) has to be signed and must include address, telephone and where possible, email address (reference letters for volunteer activities will also be considred).
The Ontario Hostelry Institute reserves the right to check all references. Faxed applications and supporting documents will NOT be accepted.
Criteria
Applications are judged on work experience, extracurricular activities, academic record and letters of recommendation. Equal weighting is given to each of the judging criteria. An independent panel of judges appointed by the Institute will review the applications and decide on the award recipients.
Payment of Award Money
The award money will be paid in November of the year the award is received. The Institute will seek confirmation of full-time enrollment from the college before each payment is made. Payment will be sent directly to the college for credit towards the student's tuition fees. If the fees have been paid in full, the money is to be given to the recipient by the college. Recipients not enrolled full time will forfeit their award payment.
