CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL SOMMELIERS
The Ontario Hostelry Institute offered two (2) awards to industry professionals that achieved the highest scores, having taken the six academic modules, the final certification examination and the required 30 hour stage/work experience.This world renowned program was given over a 24 week period - one class per week.The award was given in honour of the late Brian Kirkwood, principal of The Kirkwood Group.
Brian Kirkwood was well known in industry circles. He served in various capacities for Brights Wines (now Vincor) and Diageo Canada. He formed The Kirkwood Group in 1998 to sell and market international wines, beers ans spirits - the largest which are Yellow Tail wines from Australia and DAB beer from Germany. Mr. Kirkwood was a member of the OHI board of directors as well as a member of the Canadian Hospitality Foundation's board. Brian Kirkwood was also one of the Ontario Hostelry Institute's Gold Award recipients. It is with great pride that the Ontario Hostelry Institute offers these two awards in honour of the late Brian Kirkwood.
AMY BOWEN and STEVE McADAM have completed all of the requirements for this Award by achieving the highest cumulative average scores and successfully completing all components of the CAPS program. This included the successful completion of each of the six academic modules, the final certification examination and the required 30 hour stage/work experience. Each Award is valued at $3,500.
The Ontario Hostelry Institute (OHI) and the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS) was pleased to announce the successful candidates who will receive the 2006 OHI/CAPS AWARDS.
